Hmmmmm I couldn't get this to load properly the first time and it seemed limited in the way it worked.I had another version of this tool which gave me about 14 different ops and was very useful.
Unfortunately that was a web based Checker and since having my PC rebuilt and losing "My Favs" I can't find the web-site again.
Still,yours is ok I guess :)

I downloaded and used MD5 Checker to crosscheck another MD5 product (Nero) which was reporting an invalid MD5 checksum. NB This is my first experience with MD5 checking. After discovering that both Nero and your product gave the same result, I deleted your MD5 checker from my system as I do not want the overhead of two equivalent 'MD5-check' products.
I did however find your product easy to install and use, & wish you every success in the future.

The checker worked great. Our vendor had us download a file that they wanted us to check the MD5 signature. MD5 Checker verified that the signature was correct. We were then able to use the vendors downloaded file.

I downloaded md5 checker for comparison with other similar tools.
Other tools are a little more involved and maybe have more features such as sha1 verification and hashing entire directory trees. This one does not attempt that. It is simply a handy little free tool to check md5 for a file you just downloaded. I like that the clipboard contents are automatically pasted into the hash box.

There doesn't appear to be an easy way to add this tool to the context menu so that you can right click on a file and get to this program.

MD5 Checker is good tool , but I think it wood be better if it has the ability to save the md5 sum in a *.md5sum file , cause when the user replies by yes to saving the md5 sum , the program only strats the notepad.

Small, Light, Ronseal

Simple, easy to use, quick, and tiny; MD5 Checker does exactly that, comes with an option to create sums too, and withought too much effort from its user. However, i would prefer to have an 'OK' button as my main criticism (other than say a batch mode) is with it performing the check on the chosen MD5 sum (which is not clearly labelled as the sum) immediately after you load a file rather than waiting to see if you've made a personal selection for the MD5 sum. Still, it's a small and cohesive application with a user interface that's learned for good in 5 seconds or less, does `exactly what it says on the tin`, and comes as a little .exe rather than pushing its way through your registry and user settings withought permission. If you want to check an MD5 on some downloads, or offer some MD5s for yours, you can use this with ease.

Problem with MD5 Checker

I have downloaded MD5 Checker to test it. Unfortunately it failed to check the MD5 sum of an iso file I had on my computer.
This same file, on the same computer, is correctly checked by other MD5 checking utilities, even the simplest freeware ones.

Almost useful tool

I liked the approach to the tool.
But, it seemed to grab whatever was on the clipboard as the target MD5 checksum. Ant the calculated value was nearly impossible to read - too little contrast between the text and the red or green background.
When creating a checksum, the error/completion messages were not consistent with the options checked.

Very Good and simple to use

I tried various md5 utilities, which either did not work on my 98se desktop or would not install. I needed to check the download on the latest Linux Ubuntu 8.10 distro. After looking up the checksum on the ubuntu website, copying and pasting checksum into MD5 Checker I pointed to the iso I had downloaded, MD5 verified that the download was good prior to burning.
I will carry on using this tool and will look no further.

Simple and to the point. It checks the selected MD5 against the a file of your choosing. It also will make a CheckSum for a file for you. Quick and to the point,it works.

MD5 checker review

I have only used MD5 Checker to verify MD5 checksums. And it does exactly what I was after. It is also easy to use. Maybe it is a litle slow but I guess it is related to a large file, ~2,7 GB, and not the fastest PC (it's three years old).

Very nice application

Nice piece of software, but it takes too much time to calculate MD5 checksum for a DVD ISO (4 GB app) in a dual core Centrino 2, 4 GB RAM machine.

when checking large file

It will cause the system no response when checking a large file, such as a ISO file in 3GB size.

All in all, a very good tool to use

Fairly straight forward. Pasting entries was not as flexible as I initially expected; CTRL+V should be added to the functionality. A HELP button would be beneficial. Otherwise, it does what I want it to do. Nice job.

I was working specifically with verifying checksums. It did the job very well. The "Windows" front end could be a little more flexible.

Allows me to be sure a download was correctly by checking the MD5 checksum.

Allows me to let others do the same by including a checksum when I transfer large files.

down to earth tool

Only recommendation would be a "help" button to indicate exactly what the two radio buttons do. A status bar would be helpful too expecially when an md5sum is being generated for a large file.
Other than that, excellent tool that provided just what I needed!
